Sarah Jordan

Sarah Jordan is a registered nurse at the Taber Health Centre, and moved to Taber two years ago in 2020. Working in rural areas like Taber, there is time to connect and build relationships with patients.

The nurse says with a smaller population, and more than one healthcare centre in town, doctors and healthcare workers have the time to offer patients a unique service on a personal level. Needs are met, and Jordan says that’s why she likes to work in rural communities.

“There is a progressive mindset in Taber to see healthcare grow. We’re lucky to have the hospital and clinics, and the people working in them. Having local resources in Taber removes the travel barrier many people face when living in rural areas, and removes the reliance people may have on their family members to drive hours to reach an appointment. Offering local services cuts travel costs and offers more good to the community. Accessibility is key. The more we can keep services here, the more people receive healthcare,” says Jordan.
