Andrew Prokop

Mayor Andrew Prokop will spend his 40th year in Taber this year. He originally moved to work with the Police service in 1983.

“There are always great things happening in Taber, and it’s a great place for people to raise and grow their families,” says Mayor Prokop.

The average number for new businesses is 40 new businesses a year — 2022 specifically saw 43 new owners open their doors. Taber is famous for its corn and is known as the ‘Corn Capital of Canada”. The golden crop grown in the region is because of the large amount of sunshine the area has.

“You have the best of everything here, and I’m very proud of what’s happening in Taber. It really is a place to play, work, and grow,” says Mayor Prokop.

There is an affordable housing project, where over 300 lots are available. Currently, the population sits at over 9,000, but is estimated to grow over 10,000 in the future.

Mayor Prokop describes the community as, “full of very generous and friendly people. It’s common to feel welcomed when you visit or move to Taber.”
